Heidi Day, a long time Early Childhood Educator and owner of Kindermusik with Heidi since 1996, recently completed intensive training to become a licensed and certified Musikgarten instructor. Her studio is located inside Excite Gym, and is known as Miss Heidi's Musikgarten and serves Highland Village, Flower Mound, Lewisville, Lantana and surrounding suburbs.
Musikgarten is the leader in early childhood music education. The program offers multi-year training that helps children from newborn to age 9 to develop a deep love of music and the ability to express it. Musikgarten was founded by Dr. Lorna Heyge and Audrey Sillick, two of the nation's foremost educators in children's music learning. With its remarkable approach to music literacy and its emphasis on young child and early learning, Heidi determined that Musikgarten's philosophy of music educatiopn most closely matched her own. She also loves the aspect of incorporating nature and multicultural themes into the curriculum. She notes that the curriculum begins with family music for babies and systematically advances through keyboard for older children.
Heidi states, "Our classes are family-centered, loving, and nurturing. We make sure that class time is educational, fun and purposeful — a rarity in today's world in which education is often confused with entertainment." Heidi has been involved in music her whole life as a pianist and early childhood educator. She is convinced of its ability to calm, enrich, and heal. Her work is to help others see this gift, and plant seeds in children's lives. Heidi's background includes liberal arts, piano theory, and a lifelong study of the piano. She feels early childhood music is her truest calling. Since 1996, she has joyfully reached more than 2,000 children and their families with the power of music.
